What is the one news that if I came and told you right now would be too good to be true?
Say,
Your bank calls you and says, “your debt of Kes. 100,000 or $5000 USD is cleared!”
Your school calls and says, “your school fees for the whole year is fully paid.”
Your boss calls you one morning saying, “we are giving you a raise of 3x your salary.”
Or…
Your doctor calls in and says, “I don’t understand what happened, but the cancer is fully gone.”
Wouldn’t it be nice to hear some too good to be true news?
Well, so is the GOSPEL.
'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. '
The word gospel is defined as euaggelion which means good tidings, glad tidings, a good message.
In his book Grace the power of the Gospel, Andrew Wommack explains that the word euaggelion which was translated ‘gospel’ in 74 New Testament verses was so rare in writings outside of the New Testament that it’s found only twice in the extra-biblical manuscripts we have access to.
This is because this word not only meant “good news,” but it was describing nearly-too-good-to-be-true news. There wasn’t much in the world that was nearly too good to be true before Jesus came. But the biblical writers adopted this word because it was very descriptive of what the Lord did for us.
Gospel is of God
You see gospel in Christianity is first and foremost the too good to be true news of God and not of man, men of God, religion or angels or doctrines, it is of God. It is such good, good news that came from GOD himself. (study verses rom 15:16, 2 Cor 11:7, 1 Thes 2:2, 8-9,

The power of God that saves
We have clearly seen that the gospel is of God himself. Now this good news is,
"the power of God saves!"
THE POWER OF GOD SAVES! THE POWER OF GOD SAVES!
The Apostle Paul writes a beautiful masterpiece to the Roman church telling them that the gospel is the power of God that saves EVERYONE who believes in it.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Did you hear that? ......it says everyone. Its not anyone except so and so, NO! it's available for everyone. Isn't that good news, that we have a God who desires to save everyone?

At this point you are probably wondering, how exactly does he save us and make us right with him?
Through his son Jesus Christ.
Good news is about his Son
The gospel is the too good to be true news of God about his son JESUS CHRIST. If you are reading this, you've probably heard about the person of Jesus Christ. If not mahn! Are you in for a treat!
We are going to slowly unpack this Gospel in truth and see it for what it truly is. It is very important for us to understand the gospel as plain and simple as it is because that is how we should share it. In simplicity!

Out here, you’ve probably heard so many things claimed to be the gospel. The gospel isn't about your sins, your mistakes, your failures or even our imperfection or even hell. It is about what Jesus has done concerning each and everyone of them.
It is not news about how many times you read the bible, how holy you are, how long you pray, fast or any activity that you need to 'perform' to stand right before God.
N to the O, NO!
These things flow from relationship and bonding with Jesus. It is about getting to know such an awesome person who loves you so much you can't help but wanna love him by spending time with him in prayer, fasting and especially obeying him!
What is it about Jesus Christ?
Jesus Christ is the son of God. He came to earth through the lineage of David with a miraculous birth upon his mother Mary by the Holy spirit. (see Matthew 1:18)
God sent his son to mankind to save them from their sin and its consequences, the flesh, the devil, the world and eternal damnation.
The gospel is all about Jesus anyone who preaches to you a gospel that excludes the person of Christ is preaching a FALSE DOCTRINE. This good news is all about God's grand plan to save humanity through the sacrifice of his son. In the next article we shall see in depth of how Jesus saved us.
Prayer
May the Holy Spirit open our eyes and reveal to us this too good to be true news about Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
